In addition to the convenience of a single point of access to the University’s resources, ARI provides a layer of recognized, industry-standard project management and system engineering. Through the application of our tailorable processes, ARI program managers and system engineers ensure projects are executed to standards expected of our government partners. Teaming with our customers’ contracting officer’s technical representatives, the project management and system engineering team at ARI assist in the development and execution of detailed engineering program management plans, as well as personnel, schedule and financial planning activities. In contrast to many other university research organizations, ARI staff members bring experience serving in both technical and management roles and bring this diverse understanding to support client programs. In disciplines generally considered weak at other universities, The University of Virginia Applied Research Institute excels in the areas of client communications, schedule and resource management and timely production of deliverables.
Complementing our project management support, the institute provides skilled expertise in overall systems engineering and architecture development. ARI provides systems engineering support throughout the entire lifecycle of the project. By applying an interdisciplinary approach which utilizes the resources of this pan-University organization, we realize successful projects by integrating both the technical and management components of a project. ARI brings unique knowledge and expertise to support requirements analysis, capture and documentation, system flow diagrams, decision analysis, subsystem derivation and definition, design review, and verification and traceability planning.
